This one day workshop has been developed for sports massage practitioners, sports therapists, remedial instructors and personal trainers.
The workshop aims to introduce different foot postures and identify the need for orthotic therapy. The practitioner will learn how to identify different foot types, how to prescribe a basic orthotic, and when to refer to an appropriately trained healthcare professional.
Delegates will learn subtalar joint function/dysfunction and how to evaluate the gait cycle. Common conditions associated with biomechanical dysfunction will be discussed, including plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, low back pain, knee pain and leg length discrepancy.
Practical elements to the workshop include how to determine subtalar neutral, measuring navicular drop, low dye taping and fitting an off-the-shelf orthotic device. There will also be a chance for the delegate to have their own feet scanned using the very lastest computerised gait analysis equipment.
This workshop will be held at the Oxford University Sports Complex.
